METHOD FOR USER AUTHENTICATION

A user authentication method is provided to improve efficiency of authentication in comparison to a public key-based algorithm by adopting a secret key algorithm as an encoding and decoding algorithm. A user computer(10) hashes a password to generate a first hash function. A first ID and a first random number are encrypted by using the first hash function as a key, and a first code message is generated. The user computer transmits the code message and the first ID to a server computer(20). A second hash function corresponding to the first ID is extracted from a prestored password file. The first code message is decrypted by using the second hash function as a key, and a second ID and a second random number are obtained. Whether the obtained information matches the code message is determined.
