<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print a facial portrait image with improved image quality. <P>SOLUTION: A method for detecting and correcting a face area from video data comprises: a video data input stage for inputting the video data in a video processor; a face area detection stage for extracting a flesh color area from the input video data and detecting a face image or a rotated face image from a face existence candidate area; an area division stage for dividing the face area detected at the face area detection stage; a correction stage for extracting and correcting a distorted data value from areas divided through the area division stage and a photograph printing stage for visually outputting the finally corrected video data through the correction stage.
