<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably notify a user that a medium such as a mobile phone used in a transaction is mislaid, and prevent the medium from being mislaid. <P>SOLUTION: An automatic transaction device includes a non-contact IC reader 109 having a read unit with built-in antenna, which reads card data from a non-contact IC chip in a portable medium disposed on the read unit, and detects whether the portable medium exists on the read unit or not, according to a response from the non-contact IC chip, a shutter that opens or closes a bill depositing/dispensing port, a display input part 102 that displays guidance on transaction operations and receives the input of the transaction operation by a customer, and a control part that controls the non-contact IC reader, the shutter, and the display input part.
