<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-IR ray reducing material for a liquid crystal image display device, the material capable of suppressing the transmittance for near-IR rays while preventing decrease in the transmittance for all rays, capable of improving sharpness of an image, and suitable to be used for a liquid crystal image display device, and to provide a liquid crystal image display device having the material. <P>SOLUTION: The near-IR ray reducing material 10 for a liquid crystal image display device comprises a near-IR ray absorbing layer 12 formed on a transparent support 11 and has the transmittance of all rays of 65% or more and the transmittance for near-IR rays of 80% or less. The near-IR ray absorbing layer 12 contains a near-IR ray absorbing dye such as a diimonium salt compound. A hard coat layer, a functional layer, an antireflection layer or the like are formed on the surface of the transparent support 11 opposite to the near-IR ray absorbing layer 12. The liquid crystal image display device has the above near-IR ray reducing material 10 on the front face of a liquid crystal screen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
