<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protective device for a vehicle, capable of varying the limit of occupant restraining force by a seat belt in multiple steps or in a stepless way without causing enlargement of constitution. <P>SOLUTION: Torsion bars 5a and 5b, torsionally deformable, are respectively capable of transmitting torque to a belt reel 2 on which the seat belt 4 is wound. As a solenoid 16a is energized, one end part of the torsion bar 5a is restrained by a retractor frame 3, and as a solenoid 16b is energized, one end part of the torsion bar 5b is restrained by the retractor frame 3. By varying selection of energization to the solenoids 16a and 16b, the limit of the occupant restraining force by the seat belt 4 can be varied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
