PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide identical phase insulating paper and a stator of a rotary electric machine wherein the identical phases at a coil end can be reliably insulated from each other by a simple construction. SOLUTION: The identical phase insulating paper 11 disposed in the stator 1 of a rotary electric machine is constructed of an insulating paper body 12 and a joining portion 16. In the insulating paper main body, a pair of pieces 15, 15 corresponding to each other are formed by folding an insulating paper material at a fold 14 in the center. The joining portion is formed by bonding or welding either piece on the side adjoining to the fold 14. The pair of pieces 15, 15 of the insulating paper body 12 of the identical phase insulating paper 11 are put on either protruded base portion 3b of a coil end 3a protruded from the end face 2a of a stator core 2 and a tip portion 3c continuing thereto so that they are clamped by the pair of pieces. The fold 14 is abutted against the tip portion 3c of the coil end 3a, and further the joining portion 16 is disposed between the coil end 3a and the protruded base portion 3b of the adjoining coil end 3a in phase.
