PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracing device capable of recording data to be required for trouble analysis, and easily performing the trouble analysis. SOLUTION: The tracing device for updating and preserving communication data to be exchanged via a network writes trace data, which is extracted by a trace data extracting means, in a pre-event-occurrence trace data storage area in a trace data file before an event detecting means detects event occurrence, and in a post-event-occurrence trace data storage area in the trace data file after the event detecting means detects the event occurrence. When the event detecting means detects the event occurrence, event information expressing the event is written in the post-event-occurrence trace data storage area in the trace data file, and changes the capacity of the pre-event-occurrence trace data storage area, based on a traffic measured by a traffic measuring means.
