PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manganese dry battery of low cost having superior electrolyte leakage resistance and storage performance, even when a paper cylinder is used as an outer packaging member. SOLUTION: The manganese dry battery is provided with a negative-electrode zinc can, a separator arranged on the inner side of the negative-electrode zinc can, a positive-electrode mix arranged on an inner side of the separator, a positive-electrode carbon rod, a flange paper covering the upper surface of the positive-electrode mix, a sealing body for sealing the opening part of the negative-electrode zinc can, a positive-electrode terminal plate arranged on the upper surface of the sealing body, a negative-electrode terminal plate arranged at the bottom surface of the negative-electrode zinc can, and the outer packaging member, arranged outside the negative-electrode zinc can. The upper-end part of the outer packaging member is folded inwardly, together with a peripheral edge part of the positive electrode terminal plate so as to wrap around the peripheral edge part of the positive-electrode terminal plate. The lower end part of the outer packaging member is folded inwardly, together with a peripheral edge part of the negative-electrode terminal plate so as to wrap around the peripheral edge part of the negative-electrode terminal plate.
