摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy material having excellent mechanical properties, and having excellent dimensional precision in a high temperature atmosphere, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy material is composed of an Mg-Zn-Gd based alloy comprising, by atom, 0.5 to 3% Zr and 1 to 5% Gd, and the balance Mg with inevitable impurities, and comprises Mg<SB>5</SB>Gd and/or Mg<SB>7</SB>Gd in the structure, and in which the area ratio of Mg<SB>3</SB>Gd and long period stacked structure crystallized out or precipitated in grain boundaries is≥30%. Further, the method for producing the magnesium alloy material comprises: a melt casting stage where an Mg-Zn-Gd based alloy is melted and cast, so as to obtain a cast material; a plastic working stage where the cast material is subjected to plastic working, so as to produce the worked material; and a heat treatment stage where the worked material is subjected to heat treatment so as to be held at 200 to 300°C for≥20 hr.
