PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move a staple at the head after loading the staple without using a test sheet, in a sheet processing device with staple function. SOLUTION: This sheet processing device 2 comprises a stapler unit 18 for binding a sheet bundle, a counter for counting the number of sheets of the sheet bundle, forward/backward current detection mechanisms 251A, 251B for measuring the actual load current value generated when the stapler unit binds the sheet bundle, a ROM in which the thresholds for each quantity of sheets of the sheet bundle set according to the actual load current values for each quantity of sheets, a CPU for comparing the actual load current generated when the stapler filled with the staple performs sheet bundle binding operation with the quantity of sheets counted by the counter, and a display part for notifying that the staple projects from the stapler unit when the actual load current value is equal to or higher than a threshold.
