PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quantitatively evaluate operation performance of a thermal expansion absorption mechanism provided between a needle valve of a fuel injection valve and an actuator for driving the needle valve. SOLUTION: The evaluation device evaluates the operation performance of the thermal expansion absorption mechanism 8a having a driving member 9 for driving the needle valve 5 of the fuel injection valve 1 and a driven member 10 provided on the needle valve 5. The evaluation device includes needle displacement measuring means 37, 40 for measuring displacement X2 of the needle valve 5, driving member displacement measuring means 37, 41 for measuring displacement X1 of the driving member 9, and an evaluation means 37 for evaluating the operation performance of the thermal expansion absorption mechanism 8a based on the measured displacement X2, X1 of the needle valve 5 and the driving member 9.
