<p>The device has a protective lip actuating device actuated during an opening of a motor vehicle door (4) such that a protective lip (1) is deployed by the actuating device before a door edge region. The protective lip is supported in a rotatable manner, where the protective lip is fastened on a plate in a linearly movable manner. The device is connected with the door and is connected with a vehicle frame by a rod or pull unit (2). A block is applied as an end stop (5) during a normal position.
