A display device and a display system are provided to add a set-top box mode to the display device capable of reproducing digital broadcasting, thereby providing a digital broadcasting signal to the other display device which can not receive the digital broadcasting signal directly. A signal processing unit(30) processes a digital broadcasting signal selected in a tuner(20). A scaling processing unit(40) converts the broadcasting signal, outputted from the signal processing unit, into a broadcasting signal of a format which can be displayed on a display unit(50) and outputs the converted broadcasting signal. An interface unit(60) outputs the broadcasting signal outputted from the signal processing unit to the outside. A control unit(90) controls the tuner and the signal processing unit so as for the broadcasting signal outputted from the signal processing unit to be outputted to the outside through the interface unit and turns the function of the scaling processing unit off if a set-top box mode is selected.
