<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt-type continuously variable transmission capable of enlarging a friction coefficient in a contact surface between a belt element and a driving pulley. <P>SOLUTION: The belt-type continuously variable transmission has the driving pulley 5, a driven pulley 6 and an endless belt 16 wound on the driving pulley 5 and driven pulley 6. The belt 16 comprises a ring 17 and a plurality of elements 18 mounted in a circumferential direction of the ring 17 and arranged in a mutually laminated manner.
