摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laminated piezoelectric element capable of securing desired piezoelectric characteristics and preventing cracks, or the like extended in the lamination direction of a laminate from occurring. <P>SOLUTION: The laminated piezoelectric element 1 has the laminate 2 where a plurality of piezoelectric bodies 3 and a plurality of internal electrodes 4A, 4B are laminated in a prescribed order for sintering. The piezoelectric bodies 3 are formed by a piezoelectric material mainly made of, for example, PZT (lead zirconate titanate). In the laminate 2, a part where the internal electrodes 4A, 4B are overlapped in a lamination direction is an active section P, and a part (an edge at both the sides of the laminate 2) where the internal electrodes 4A, 4B are overlapped in a lamination direction is an inactive section Q. A plurality of metal oxide layers 5 are formed at the inactive section Q in the laminate 2. The metal oxide layers 5 are formed by a material (a material containing at least one of ZrO<SB>2</SB>, MgO, Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, CeO<SB>2</SB>, and Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>) that has a melt point higher than the sintering temperature of PZT and forms a solid solution together with PZT. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
