PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which can change illuminance of a dial plate depending on place as well as time to achieve more innovative appearance. SOLUTION: The display device is designed in which a gradation part 3 of the dial plate 2 is composed of radial shaped section 31 and background 32 to set transmittance of the radial shaped section 31 higher than that of the background 32, while using controller 15 to gradually change a light emission quantity of light emitting diode 4 transmitting the gradation part 3 for illumination. Thus a lighting range of the gradation part 3 may be variable over time, in other words, it can be as dynamic gradation display to notably be visible.
