PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To omit or reduce manual finishing process by improving the machining accuracy by a machine tool. SOLUTION: A method for machining a shape includes a step of setting the design shape of a base material of a shape correcting object (S1), a step of setting a first point and a second point, which have tangents having different directions respectively on a first cross section of the base material in the neighborhood of a built-up welded region by a welding material, and a third point on a second cross section intersecting the first cross section as reference points on the design shape (S2), a step of measuring the shape of the base material in the neighborhood of the built-up welded region by the welding material (S3), a step of calculating respective corresponding points located on one direction from the respective reference points on the respective cross sections based on the measured results (S4), a step of estimating three dimensional displacement of the base material from the respective displacement vectors from the respective reference points to the respective corresponding points (S5), a step of correcting machining data based on the displacement (S6), and a step of machining the welding material portion according to the corrected machining data (S7).
