The transmitter (100) has a driver laser (110), and a beam splitter (130) coupled in such a manner that the divider divides a beam from the driver laser into separate rays. An arrangement of electro absorption modulators (150) coupled in such a manner that each of the modulators receives the separated rays from the beam splitter. The modulators modulate each of the rays to produce data signals, which are transmitted parallelly. An optical insulator is provided in a beam path from the divider laser to the beam splitter. The modulators are arranged in an optical integrated circuit (140). An independent claim is also included for a data transmission method comprising a step of generating a beam.
