Coating material (I) for coating porous anti-reflection layers, especially those made by a sol-gel process, contains at least one metal-organic compound (II) and gives the coated layer a greater resistance to abrasion, weathering, water and/or dirt. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of (I) for the above application.
