摘要 <p>An apparatus enabling an improvement of the success rate of detection of the pupil or the iris pattern of a patient eye and enabling a laser beam to be adequately shined to the patient eye while tracking the movement of the patient eye. A cornea surgery apparatus comprises a laser beam shining optical system which enables the position to which the laser beam from a laser light source is shined to be moved on the cornea of the patient eye and an eye position variation detection unit having an illumination optical system for illuminating the anterior ocular segment of the patient eye and an imaging camera for imaging the anterior ocular segment illuminated by the illuminating optical system so as to detect a variation of the position of the patient eye including cycloduction during surgery according to the iris pattern of the image of the anterior ocular segment imaged by the imaging camera. According to the results of the detection by the eye position variation detection unit, the position to which the laser beam is shined is made to follow up the movement of the patient eye, and the cornea is ablated into a desired shape by shining the laser beam. The cornea surgery apparatus is characterized by further comprising contrast adjusting means which extracts the pupil and iris portions according to the luminance information on the image of the anterior ocular segment and varies the set value of at least one of the amount of illumination light from the illumination optical system or the gain of the imaging camera within a range in which the luminance information on the iris portion does not become in a saturated state so that the contrast of the pupil portion to the iris portion or the contrast of the pattern of the iris portion becomes high.</p>
