<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of selecting measures optimum both for a user who pays attention to color and a user who pays no attention to color. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 20 is equipped with: a toner residual amount detection part 254 detecting toner residual amounts T of respective colors; a discrimination part 255 calculating necessary toner amounts W of respective colors necessary when image data instructed to be printed is printed, and comparing the necessary toner amounts W with the toner residual amounts T, thereby discriminating whether or not printing can be performed; an informing processing part 256 displaying an inquiry screen to urge to input whether or not alternate printing using different color from the color instructed to be printed is performed for the image data discriminated as the one that can not be printed by the discrimination part 255; and an alternate data generation part 257 converting the image data instructed to be printed into alternate data using only the remaining toner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
