摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the speed of data processing of a packet transfer device using a cache, and to shorten the time needed to retrieve information managing the arrival order of packets. <P>SOLUTION: A processor-group-ID calculating unit 11 calculates a processor group ID. A group-belonging-processor determining unit 18 counts the numbers of packets per unit time by processor groups and records them in a table 33. A processor retrieving unit 16 uses the processor group ID as an index to retrieve the number of a processor made to process a packet and the sequence number of the packet from a table 14 and a table 15 respectively. A sequence number adding unit 17 selects a processor belonging to the retrieved processor group, enters the processor group ID and sequence number into information for processing the packet, and passes them to the processor.
