PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display and a driving method thereof that can prevent a weak discharge and a wrong discharge due to an alignment error for a first electrode and a second electrode. SOLUTION: The plasma display is constructed with a control type plasma display panel 100 having a closed barrier configuration. The control type plasma display panel is constructed with a plurality of first and second electrodes Y and X, a plurality of third electrodes A formed crossing the first and second electrodes Y and X, and a plurality of discharge cells 18 formed at the crossing regions of the first, second, and third electrodes Y, X, and A. Each pair of column-wise neighboring discharge cells 18 have different electrode arrangement configurations. The driving method includes a first stage wherein a scan pulse having a first width L1 is applied to the odd-numbered first electrodes Y and a second stage wherein the scan pulse having a second width L2 that is different from the first width L1 is applied to the even-numbered first electrodes in an address peroid of a sub-field.
