PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finder optical system which is easy for high magnification, and imaging device using the same. SOLUTION: The finder optical system has an optical path bending mirror which reflects light passed through a taking lens, a focal board forming an image after the light is reflected by the optical path bending mirror, a pentagonal prism which inverts the image formed on the focal board into an erect image, and an ocular which enlarges and displays the image on the focal board through the pentagonal prism, wherein the pentagonal prism has an incident surface, roof-shaped first and second reflecting surfaces, a third reflecting surface, and a projection surface, and is configured such that light on the optical axis of the taking lens incident vertically on the incident surface and projected vertically from a projection surface in parallel to the optical axis, a condition and a relationship of 46°≤θ1≤47°andθ2=2θ1 being satisfied, whereθ1 is the angle (°) that the optical axis of the taking lens and a reflecting surface of the optical path bending mirror contain andθ2 is the angle (°) that the incident surface and projection surface contain.
