PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the poor cutting of media in a large-sized printer is one of large factors for lowering the value of a printed article and lowering productivity, and that a cutter worn by the repetition of cutting of the media deteriorates sharpness and generates the poor cutting. SOLUTION: The sharpness of the cutter is detected from a load of the cutter received from the media is detected, and a means for switching to the optimum cutting speed in response to its sharpness is introduced.
