The element (11) has an electrodynamic drive system formed from a negative planetary gear (5) i.e. three-shaft planetary gear, an electrical machine (2) and switching elements (6, 7, 8). The switching element (6) is arranged between planet-wheel carriers of the planetary gear, such that the planetary gear is bridgeable. The switching element (8) is provided between the planetary gear and an internal combustion engine (1). The switching element (7) is provided between the planet-wheel carriers of the planetary gear and a power shift transmission (10). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an electrodynamic starting element.
