<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceiling-mounted gantry system having a simple, strong and reliable mechanism for displacing a carriage. <P>SOLUTION: This ceiling-mounted gantry system is provided with the carriage 205, at least two elongate support rails 225 disposed under the ceiling and extending between the both sides of the carriage 205, a support structure 210 connected to the carriage 205, a primary drive unit assembly 215 mounted on the carriage 205, and a secondary drive unit assembly 220 mounted on the carriage 205.
