<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for a railway vehicle with higher energy efficiency which manages a power storage amount of a power storage device according to a line state changing every moment, with simpler constitution, in the drive unit for the railway vehicle which has a dc power generating means and the power storage device, and uses power generated by at least one of the both means. <P>SOLUTION: A surplus or a deficiency of the power storage amount generated according to a slope state of lines is predicted from a difference between kinetic energy calculated from a running speed of the vehicle and reference kinetic energy calculated from reference speed information to a running position of the vehicle. A charging or discharging amount of the power storage device is adjusted based on the predicted surplus or deficiency of the power storage amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
