PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active oxygen detector and an active oxygen detecting method, for detecting active oxygen generated by photocatalyst reaction or the like, in various reaction environment fields including atmosphere. SOLUTION: This active oxygen detector is provided with an irradiation part 10 for irradiating a product generated by a reaction of at least one molecule of the active oxygen with at least one fluorescent probe, with an excitation light 7 for exciting the product, and a detecting part 11 for detecting fluorescence 14 generated by irradiating the product with the excitation light 7.
