PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peel type blind rivet which assures a stable tightening force regardless of variation in hardness of an object member to be tightened. SOLUTION: A rivet body 2 has a small diameter hole part 9 with a diameter B smaller than a diameter A of an insertion hole 8 of a shell part 3 provided at the side of a flange head 4, and a locking shoulder part 10 formed in the inner bottom of the insertion hole 8. A shaft 6 of a mandrel 5 has a thick shaft part 11 with a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter A of the insertion hole 8 continuously with a mandrel head 7, and a thin shaft part 12 inserted through the small diameter hole part 9 continuously with the thick shaft part 11. The shaft part 6 of the mandrel 5 inserted through the shell part 3 is pulled and extracted until an end face 11a of the thick shaft part 11 abuts on the locking shoulder part 10. The tearing length of a plurality of leg pieces 19 formed by tearing other end openings 18 of the shell part 3 with a cutting edge part 16 is nearly constant, and the spreading diameter C of the plurality of leg pieces 19 opened in petal shape is secured to be nearly constant.
