摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce pumping work with simple structure and by a simple control method to reduce cost and improve mounting properties. SOLUTION: An intake air control device for an internal combustion engine is disposed in an intake passage 13 upstream of the intake valve 14, and is provided with an intake air control valve 15 releasing/blocking the intake passage 13, so as to control an intake air amount for each cylinder. The device further provided with an intake air passage volume adjusting means adjusting an intake air passage volume from the intake air control valve 15 to the intake air valve 14, depending on necessary intake air amounts. The means is constituted of: an intake air control tank 16 communicating to the intake passage 13 downstream of the intake air control valve 15 through a communication passage 17; and a control valve 20 for adjusting an intake air passage volume, releasing/blocking the communication passage 17. In a light load, the intake air control valve 15 and the control valve 20 for adjusting an intake air passage volume are opened before the start of the intake stroke to reduce an intake air control volume.
