PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To objectively/quantitatively and surely confirm construction of an enlarged head blade expansion and an enlarged foot protection part at low costs with a control device of a conventional excavator, in an enlarged foot protection construction method constructing the enlarged foot protection part by expanding a blade of the enlarged head at an top end of an excavation rod of the excavator. SOLUTION: A current value or an integral current value of a motor rotating an excavation rod of driving system is measured, the current value or the integral current value at the time of excavation before blade expansion and the current value or the integral current value at the time of enlarged excavation after blade expansion is compared and the enlarged head is judged as blade expansion when the increased ratio of the current value or the integral current value at the time of enlarged excavation becomes bigger than the preset value S. And the enlarged process is judged as completion when the current value or the integral current value in the enlarging and up-and-down repeating process falls lower and close to the current value or the integral current value at the time of excavation before blade expansion and becomes stable.
