PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy sheet for a battery case which is excellent in strength, formability, laser weldability, stress relaxation property and pressure resistance even when the sheet thickness is reduced, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: The aluminum alloy sheet is composed of an aluminum alloy having a composition comprising, by mass, 0.9 to 1.5% Mn, >0.5 to 1.0% Cu, 0.2 to 0.6% Mg, 0.05 to 0.50% Si and 0.05 to 0.60% Fe, and in which the content of Zn is controlled to≤0.10%, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities, and in which the number of Al (Fe, Mn, Si) based intermetallic compounds with the maximum length of 0.5 to 5μm is 5,000 to 15,000 per mm<SP>2</SP>.
