PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient and effective new method for regenerating a photoreceptor, to thereby significantly reduce the amount of the organic solvent used, and to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor obtained by regenerating a photoreceptor which has reached its usefulness, into a state in which it can stably produce a high-quality image, and to provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge that use the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The method for regenerating an electrophotographic photoreceptor brings a supercritical fluid and/or a subcritical fluid into contact with a surface of an electrophotographic photoreceptor, after repeated use in an image forming process that includes, at least a charging step of charging the surfaces of an electrophotographic photoreceptor; an electrostatic latent image forming step of forming an electrostatic latent image on the electrophotographic photoreceptor; a developing step of forming a visible image by depositing toner on the electrostatic latent image; and a transfer step of transferring the visible image onto a recording medium.
