PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a steel cord having different properties in the longitudinal direction and formed by twisting a plurality of wires (elemental wires) having different kinkiness in the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: The method for producing the steel cord includes the following process: while drawing out wires 1 under a given tension, part of the wire 1 is kinked by a relevant device 20. After the resulting wires 1 are drawn out by a given length, the drawing-out operation is stopped, and the wires 1 are then gripped by three chucking devices 40, 41 disposed at equal intervals. Subsequently, the chucking device 41 is rotated to twist the wires and remove residual stress and releasing all of the chucking devices to feed the resulting strand by feeding devices 50, 70 doubling as take-up devices.
