PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce aromatic polyamide particles from a dope of an aromatic polyamide having a hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring as a substituent. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a process for producing the wholly aromatic polyamide particles comprising extracting a dope containing a polyamide having a repeating unit represented by formula (I) as the main unit with a poor solvent and drying the resulting polyamide particles by the freeze-drying method.
