MEDIA ACCESS CONTROL METHOD IN OPTICAL WIRELESS NETWORKS AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME METHOD

A media access control method in an optical wireless network and an apparatus therefor are provided to reduce maintenance costs by simplifying installation and operation of an optical network. A hybrid MAC module(210) processes uplink messages transferred as radio signals from CPEs(Customer Premise Equipments)(300_1-300_M), and processes a downlink message transferred as a light signal from an OLT(Optical Line Termination)(100). An optical radio physical layer module(220) converts the uplink messages processed by the hybrid MAC module into light signals and outputs the same, and converts the downlink message processed by the hybrid MAC module into radio signals and outputs the same. A light signal transmission/reception module(230) transmits/receives the light signal between the optical radio physical layer module and the OLT. A radio transmission/reception module(240) transmits/receives the radio signals between the optical radio physical layer module and the CPEs.
