REMOVING TIME DELAYS IN SIGNAL PATHS

A time delay compensating method in a signal process is provided to prevent degradation in a sound quality by compensating for a time synchronization difference between a down-mix signal and spatial information. An audio signal decoding apparatus includes a first decoder(400b) and a second decoder(200b). The first decoder decodes a down-mix signal which is encoded in at least one of two down-mix input domains, and provides a decoded down-mix signal. The second decoder is connected to the first decoder. The second decoder is configured to combine the received down-mix signal with spatial information to generate a multichannel audio signal. The second decoder compensates for a time difference between the decoded down-mix signal and the spatial information.
