A drive assembly with an intermediate shaft and a coupling unit is provided to control torque distribution between lateral shaft gears of an axle differential gear device and lateral shafts of a vehicle. In a drive assembly with an intermediate shaft(12) and a coupling unit(22), the first end portion of the intermediate shaft is coupled with an output gear(31) of an axle differential gear device(4), and a second end portion is coupled to a lateral shaft indirectly. The intermediate shaft rotates around a rotating shaft(A). The coupling unit includes first and second coupling hubs(34,36). The first coupling hub is equipped with outer plates(35), and coupled with a differential gear carrier(5) of the axle differential gear device. The first coupling hub rotates around the rotating shaft with regard to a bearing support unit(19). The second coupling hub is equipped with inner plates(37), and coupled to the intermediate shaft. The coupling unit is located coaxially to the intermediate shaft.
