A ball spline device in which the outer diameter of a nut member is reduced to the utmost limit with required functions maintained, which does not need troublesome labor in assembly, and which is reliable despite of being inexpensively and simply produced. The nut member (2) has track grooves (30), in which balls (3) circulate, in its inner peripheral surface facing a spline shaft (1). The track grooves (30) are constructed from linear load grooves (31) formed facing ball rolling grooves (10a, 10b) of the spline shaft (1), linear non-load grooves (32) arranged in parallel with the linear load grooves (31), and a pair of ball deflection grooves (33) for interconnecting the linear load grooves (31) and the linear non-load grooves (32) and allowing traffic of the balls (3) between the grooves. The ball deflection grooves (33) forcibly changes the direction of advance of the balls (3) rolling in the ball rolling grooves (10a, 10b) and causes the balls (3) to depart from the ball rolling grooves (10a, 10b) by using the profile of the spline shaft (1).
|
