<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a projection angle in a projector in simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: First of all, a test pattern is projected on a screen S. Here, the test pattern is defined to "comprise a plurality of partial graphics each of which is shaped closer to a standard graphic when it is distorted by an inclination in the direction of projection by an image forming optical system 2 in accordance with the inclination in the projection direction". When the test pattern is projected on the screen S, a user then inputs identification information for identifying a partial graphic that is shaped most closely to the standard graphic. The projector then accepts the input of the identification information and determines a correction amount on the basis of the input.
