<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for synchronizing corresponding landmarks among a plurality of images of an elastic target during CT colonography or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes the step (1012) of identifying a plurality of landmarks in a first image (103 or 210) and a second image (105 or 220) of an object, the step (1014) of determining correspondence between the landmarks of the first image (103 or 210) and those of the second image (105 or 220), and the step (1018) of determining a distance transformation between a pair of adjacent landmarks in the first image (103 or 210) and a pair of adjacent landmarks in the second image (105 or 220). When displaying the first and second images, navigation is carried out smoothly between the adjacent landmarks using the distance transformation (1024) so that corresponding landmarks of the first image (103 or 210) and the second image (105 or 220) are arrived almost simultaneously during navigation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
