PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform illegal equipment authentication processing without incurring black-out.

SOLUTION: Video/audio output equipment of the present invention is video/audio output equipment 110 which uses HDMI communication to output video and audio data to receiving equipment 120, including: a list holding section 113 for holding an illegal equipment list that is a list indicating information about illegal equipment; an authentication section 115 for performing first equipment authentication for confirming whether the receiving equipment 120 is illegal equipment or not using the illegal equipment list and second equipment authentication that is equipment authentication of the receiving equipment 120 to be performed periodically; and an illegal equipment confirmation section 118 which acquires a new illegal equipment list, updates the illegal equipment list held in the list holding section 113 into the acquired illegal equipment list in a case where the acquired illegal equipment list is newer than the illegal equipment list held in the list holding section 113, and uses the updated illegal equipment list to confirms whether the receiving equipment 120 is illegal equipment or not in parallel with the second equipment authentication due to the authentication section 115.
