PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input device which can have various shapes, is constituted by combining various imaging devices with a universal head device, and is high in versatility. SOLUTION: An imaging device is stored with at least one of information showing moment of inertia of the imaging device which has, as an axis of rotation, an axis passing the center of gravity of the imaging device and parallel to an axis of rotation in a panning direction and information showing moment of inertial of the imaging device which has, as an axis of rotation, an axis passing the center of gravity of the imaging device and parallel to an axis of rotation in a tilting direction. The universal head device reads the stored information out (step S603), determines parameters associated with control over a motor based upon the read-out information (step S606), and controls the motor based upon the determined parameters (step S610).
