PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitutes a means for discharging an electromagnetic wave output from the part of a scanner from a metallic frame of a carriage to a housing of an image reader through a guide rail member. SOLUTION: An image reader is disclosed in which: a leaf spring 20 as a conductive elastic member is caulked and fitted to a nearly center part of a leg portion 2 of a first carriage 1 and a conductive resin member 21 is assembled below the leaf spring 20; while the leg portion 2 of the first carriage 1 is in contact with a rail 3, the resin member 21 is pressed against the rail 3 in a state where the leaf spring 20 flexes; the resin member 21 employs resin filled with short stainless fiber; and the first carriage 1 and rail 3 are brought into contact with each other using the conductive resin with the elastic body interposed to reduce EMI radiation. The above image reader can stably keep initial performance since there is no variation in characteristic of EMI radiation due to change over time caused by rust. Further, the resin filled with the stainless fiber is hardly ground unlike resin filled with carbon to suppress the production of dust as much as possible. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
