PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device where power for charging a battery is secured even if an operation is performed even when charging the battery and charging of the battery can be completed in short time. SOLUTION: When charging the battery 20, an operation control part 17 limits the operation in an operation part 10 in accordance with a battery remaining amount in the battery 20 and controls the operation whose operation load is heavy so that it is sequentially performed as the battery remaining amount increases much more. An operation of content acquirement by a communication part 14, whose operation load is heavier than an operation of content reproduction by a reproduction processing part 16, is controlled to be performed with the battery remaining amount larger than the battery remaining amount with which the operation of the content reproduction by the reproduction processing part 16 is controlled to be performed.
