PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface protective film which can be manufactured easily by a convenient method, e.g. coextrusion, without sacrifice of productivity or costs and combines excellent release characteristics and excellent adhesion, without the influence of e.g. the deterioration of the adhesive layer due to the transfer of the release agent. SOLUTION: The surface protective film 3 is formed by coextrusion film formation of at least one substrate layer 1 and an adhesive layer 2, and the substrate layer serving as the back layer of the adhesive layer contains a polyvinyl alcohol type resin.
