A reservation recording method in case of lack of DVD disk residual quantity in an HDD-DVDR system is provided to compare a recording possible time with a predictable recording time of the program and to carry out reservation recording while recording quality of the program is degraded by steps when the recording possible time is not sufficient. A reservation recording method during shortage of DVD disk residual quantity in an HDD-DVDR system comprises: checking whether a user sets reservation recording of a reservation set program(S202); calculating recording possible time according to residual volume of the DVD disk during the reservation recording time(S204), comparing the recording possible time with the predictable recording time of the program(S210); and making low recording quality of the program by steps when the recording possible time is shorter than the recording time of the recording possible program(S216).
