<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic control device of an automatic transmission, which is equipped with a range switching portion to electrically set the output or non-output of the range pressure based on the operation of a shift operating means, and which enables to make the automatic transmission a predetermined change gear state in the failure to be non-energized. <P>SOLUTION: In a change gear control 3, in the non-energized state, a first passage 50 communicates with first and third clutches C-1, C-3 to engage with, for example, a forward three-speed stage, and the range switching portion 2. In the range switching portion 2, first range pressure supply portions S1, 10 to set the output or non-output of the range pressure in the first passage 50 and second range pressure supply portions RS1, 20 to set the output or non-output of the range pressure in a second passage 60 to communicate with the other hydraulic servo are separated.
