<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-board communication system that enables on-board devices to efficiently transmit and receive data through automatic adaption to a newly connected on-board device, an on-board device included in the on-board communication system, and an on-board communication method. <P>SOLUTION: A relay apparatus 2a detects the on-board device 3i as an option being newly connected to an in-cabin communication line 1b, and new connection information showing that data detected through a sensor 4i are transmitted from the newly connected on-board device 3i is transmitted to respective on-board devices 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d, and then transmitted to on-vehicle devices 3e, 3f, 3g, and 3h through a relay apparatus 2b. The on-board device 3h which requires the data detected through the sensor 4i receives the new connection information to recognize that the data can be obtained.
